Annual flowers, sprouts of roses and tulips peeking through the soft earth. A fragrant reminder of spring’s proximity.

Introduction

If you’re like me and winter’s long, cold dark nights are getting you down, I have just the antidote: flowers. Yes, even before spring arrives, there are some hints of it already peeking through the soft earth. When I saw these annuals on a recent walk in Chicago’s Lincoln Park Conservatory, I was instantly transported to warmer places—places where my fingers wouldn’t be frozen to the bone and my nose wouldn’t run like a faucet. Here are some snaps from last week’s mission to find a little color in Chicagoland.

Spring is coming!

Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth. The soft earth yields its bounty to the sun, flowers rise from the ground.

Spring will be here soon

Spring is, by far, my favorite season of the year. It’s a time of renewal and growth. It’s a time when you can see all that you accomplished over the winter months finally paying off as your garden blooms with flowers and starts producing fruit for harvest. And spring isn’t just about flowers and gardening—it’s also about starting new projects. Whether it be a new business or hobby, spring is a great way to jumpstart those ideas before summer arrives and things start heating up again.

Spring may only last for three months (give or take) but it makes up for its short length by packing in as many activities as possible: planting seeds indoors so they can grow into plants; setting aside some extra cash to help pay off debt; getting out there with friends on hikes and bike rides while they’re still warm enough outside; making plans to travel somewhere warmer once summer arrives…the list goes on!

Conclusion

Spring is my favorite season. It’s a time when the green grass begins to bloom, the birds return from their winter homes and flowers start peeking through the ground. I can’t wait!
