Koh Samui’s top ten beaches

Introduction

Koh Samui is a beautiful island in the Gulf of Thailand. It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. While many people think that all beaches are created equal, this could not be further from the truth. Each beach offers something different for visitors, and some are more suitable for certain activities than others. In this blog post, we’ll examine ten of Koh Samui’s best beaches and why they’re so popular with visitors from all over the world.”

Chaweng

Chaweng is the main beach on Koh Samui and it is a popular destination for tourists. The beach is very busy, especially in the high season when you can find shops, restaurants and bars right by the water’s edge. But even if you are not into partying there are plenty of other things to do at Chaweng Beach:

  • Kite surfing – this activity takes place in shallow water so it’s suitable for beginners
  • Surfing – surfers who want some space from other people will find it here as there are few places to hang out
  • Kayaking or windsurfing – enjoy your own time with water activities away from crowds

Lamai

Lamai is Koh Samui’s most popular beach. It is also one of the best beaches in Thailand for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. Lamai has good facilities for water sports such as windsurfing and kite surfing, as well as scuba diving and surfing.

Maenam

Maenam is the best beach for water sports, sunbathing and swimming. There are three shallow lagoons that serve as great places to take a dip if you don’t feel like going in any deeper. The sand is soft and golden, and there’s plenty of space between trees so you can catch some rays without having to worry about getting in someone else’s way.

If you’re looking for somewhere quieter than Haad Rin Beach during high season (which is basically every day), Maenam is a good bet—it’s very family-friendly and has loads of room for everyone. If you want more action than simply sitting on your towel with a book or magazine all day long, there are plenty of activities here: jet skiing and banana boat rides nearby; kayaking around one of Koh Samui’s many small islands; or just renting a bike from one of the many shops lining the beachfront road and riding into town or along some trails through nature reserves further away from tourist areas.

The best part about this beach? It’s not as crowded as others nearby due to its lack of nightlife options (though this might be changing soon).

Bophut

Bophut Beach is a popular beach on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. The beach is located in the south-east of the island and it is great for swimming, walking and picnics.

Bophut Beach can be found 7 km from Na Thon road, in front of Bophut district town’s entrance gate (at marker number 2).

Choeng Mon

Choeng Mon is one of the lesser-known beaches on Samui, but that’s not to say it’s not worth a visit. The bay here is shallow and sandy, with warm waters and gentle waves which make it perfect for families.

The surrounding area is lush with palms trees and other vegetation, making it a great place for relaxing or walking around. Alongside these beautiful surroundings are plenty of facilities such as restaurants, bars and shops; as well as activities such as snorkeling and boat rides through the mangroves nearby – all adding up to being able to have an unforgettable time on Samui!

The food available at Choeng Mon beach varies from Thai street food stalls selling curries or noodles; to more upscale restaurants serving seafood platters alongside cocktails made by their expert mixologists behind the bar counter – there’s certainly something for everyone here!

As mentioned earlier in this blog post about Koh Samui beaches: “Choeng Mon Beach is known for its calm waters.” We couldn’t agree more! During our stay there we experienced some fantastic days where we were able to swim all day long without getting tired because there wasn’t too much movement beneath us due to strong currents (which can happen sometimes).

Big Buddha

Big Buddha is a large statue of Buddha, and it’s one of the most popular tourist attractions on Koh Samui. It’s located on an island called Big Buddha Beach, and the beach is full of tourists and locals alike. The view from this beach is amazing and can be enjoyed from many different angles: there are restaurants with great food and drinks, as well as plenty of snorkeling spots for those who want to explore underwater life in the area.

Big Buddha Beach has become so popular that it’s been nicknamed by locals “Happy Bay”.

Bang Po

Bang Po is a small beach on the east coast of Koh Samui. It’s quiet, with no shops or restaurants nearby and only about 50 sunbeds for guests to use. The water isn’t as clear as some of the other beaches, but it does have some great snorkelling spots that are worth checking out if you’re interested in underwater exploration (and who isn’t?).

The biggest attraction at Bang Po is its swimming area: there’s a large reef just off shore that creates an enclosed area where waves crash over rocks, creating lots of fun waves for swimmers and surfers alike to enjoy.

If you’re looking to relax on your holiday in Thailand without crowds or noise then Bang Po might be just what you’re looking for!

Hua Thanon

Hua Thanon is a small beach village on the south coast of Koh Samui, Thailand. The beach is a great place to relax and enjoy the ocean. It’s very quiet and peaceful, so you’ll have plenty of time to unwind. There are also plenty of shops for you to shop at if you feel like buying something new.

If you’re looking for a nice place to stay while visiting Hua Thanon, there are many options available in this area!

Taling Ngam

Taling Ngam is a beautiful beach on the east coast of Koh Samui. It has white sandy beaches and crystal clear water that makes it popular with tourists and locals alike. There are many hotels and resorts nearby, making it easy to find accommodation if you want to spend the day relaxing by the beach with a good book or swimsuit. The area around Taling Ngam is also home to several shops and restaurants as well as bars so there’s always somewhere nearby where you can get something delicious to eat or drink while watching people enjoying themselves at their own favourite spot on this stunning shoreline.

If you’re feeling energetic after spending some time in one of these establishments then why not take advantage of all those facilities provided by some tour operators? You could go parasailing over your favourite part of Koh Samui’s coastline before going snorkelling down below for a closer look at what lives under those blue waters!

Lipa Noi

Lipa Noi is the island’s most popular beach, and with good reason. It’s tiny and unpretentious, with just a few restaurants, shops and bars. The sea is shallow here so it’s great for swimming and snorkelling. It’s also one of Koh Samui’s best beaches for watching sunsets over the horizon, especially during summer months when fishermen set up their nets to catch squid.

If you want privacy on this beach then you’ll have to walk north along the coast to find it; otherwise, Lipa Noi is perfect for relaxing in the sun or enjoying a drink at any number of establishments (which are all within walking distance).
